SBS Worldwide appoints first US Managing Director

SBS Worldwide has appointed its first ever US Managing Director to help it significantly expand its presence in North America.

Lars Kloch, most recently Global Account Director with Geodis Wilson, has the experience to help SBS build a much higher profile in the US, says Steve Walker, Chairman of SBS Worldwide, an international freight forwarder and supply chain management company.

“We already have four offices and a great team in the US, so Lars has a terrific business already, which he can build on,” says Mr Walker.

Lars Kloch started his career with Dan Transport in Denmark (now DSV) and in 1990 moved to the US where he has held various senior sales, operations and supply chain solutions positions, including managing the global account manager team at Geodis Wilson.

Steve Walker says: “Lars’ appointment is part of our strategic global development plan. With the growth we have experienced in the US, the appointment of a Managing Director is key to our expansion plans and we are delighted to welcome Lars.”

SBS Worldwide, which also has six UK offices and 14 in China, prides itself on offering a fresh approach to its freight forwarding and logistics activities by integrating into customers’ supply chains through investment in IT resources and people skills. This has resulted in an innovative package of service offerings in the various sectors, including ocean, air and road freight as well as courier operations.

The company has also promoted Doug Overett, who has 30 years experience in the British and US forwarding and logistics industries, to the new position of UK Managing Director.

“I welcome Lars to the SBS team and congratulate Doug on his new appointment,” says Steve Walker. “These appointments place SBS Worldwide at an advanced state of preparedness for our strategic global development as well as adding an extra dimension to the service package offered to our existing clients.”
