SBS WORLDWIDE ENHANCES OCEAN FREIGHT CONSOLIDATION SERVICES
Global full service freight forwarder, SBS Worldwide is living up to its name as
it brings Los Angeles closer to Manchester!
SBS Worldwide has launched a key ocean freight consolidation service through the
US West Coast gateway for its customers in the north of the UK through its
Manchester office, the first of a series of planned enhancements this year.
Chairman, Steve Walker is certain that as the economic chill hardens, exporters
and importers in one of the most important commercial, industrial and retail
regions of the UK will welcome his company’s improved services.
He says: “During January, we introduced a Los Angeles/Liverpool consolidation
service with a 17 day depot to depot transit time.
“Our Chicago to Liverpool ocean freight consolidation service already offers a 14
day depot to depot transit time which is one of the fastest in the marketplace
and, with the introduction of new vessels from the Far East, the transit time of
our port to port service from Southern China is now just 17 days!
“During a period of intense economic pressure, it is especially pleasing that we
are able to grow our ocean freight services through Manchester. These new
services will reduce transit times on our key routes into and out of Northern
England.”
SBS Worldwide offers some of the fastest transit times available today from both
the USA and Far East to the North of England, Mr Walker adds. “It is important
that we have our own offices and operations in the USA, with hubs in Atlanta,
Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, which gives us greater control over customer
service and support.”
Manchester is without doubt the business capital of the North West. The
manufacturing industries in the city, following a national trend throughout
Britain, suffered a rapid decline in the 20th and early 21st centuries, mainly
due to the emergence of highly competitive rivals in the Far East.
However, the city has successfully reinvented itself, discovering new export
outlets for its enterprise and still boasting many important and active areas of
industry and manufacturing that dynamically generate import and export freight
traffic for SBS Worldwide.
