SBS Wins Fresh Contract to Deliver New Dan Brown Novel to Iceland

LONDON, 1 OCTOBER 2009 - SBS Worldwide Group is pleased to announce that it has won a second commission from TBS, a leading provider of warehousing and distribution services to publishers, to deliver a consignment containing the latest Dan Brown title “The Lost Symbol” to Icelandic wholesaler Penninn.

The contract follows the successful delivery of an earlier shipment to Reykjavik Airport for Penninn prior to the official publication date. They reached their destination a day early, with SBS fully meeting the embargo conditions designed by publisher Random House to prevent any copies of the novel being leaked ahead of the official publication date.

The goods travel through London’s Heathrow Airport, where operations are overseen by Stewart Page, export manager for Heathrow, and are flown to Reykjavik.

“We stuck to the very strict guidelines we were given,” said SBS Air General Manager Jonathan Blackney. “That TBS has come back to us and awarded us another contract for delivery I think demonstrates the commitment SBS shows to its clients. For more than 26 years we have shown a consistent commitment to protecting publishers’ copyright while their goods are in transit.”

Vital to publishers’ financial health, ensuring copyright protection is one of the most fundamental aspects of the business of logistics in the book world.

Adds Mr Blackney: “It’s imperative that publishers know that their and their writers’ intellectual property is secure. We at SBS are leading in the way in providing reliable and secure logistics.”
